Bisque Tile, 4.25"x4.25" and 6"x6"

These fine-quality, low-fired white clay tiles are ready to decorate with your choice of underglaze or glaze to make trivets, borders, tabletops, coasters, etc. Fire the decorated tile at the glaze's recommended firing temperature.

The color will vary batch to batch from creamy off-white to slight buff or mild grey tones. Customers needing an absolute smooth or white background on the tile should consider applying a base coat of , refiring the tile and then adding their decorations.

The Unglazed Ceramic Bisque Tiles are available in two industry standard sizes: 4.25" x 4.25" and 6" x 6".  The smaller tiles are commonly named as 4 x 4 but are technically slightly larger.  All tiles have fluted backs to accept mastic for ease of installation and side edge offsets to generate grout lines.

For decorative usage and children's crafts projects, the 6" x 6" Unglazed Ceramic Bisque Tile are generally the most popular size.  Most users will decorate the tile with underglazes or with low fire opaque or decorative glazes. If decorated with underglaze, the tile should be finished with clear glaze to seal the artwork from contact with water or food. If properly glazed and fired, the unglazed ceramic tile can be used for backsplashes, murals, bathroom walls or trivets. Due to the low costs and wide-ranging decorative options the unglazed ceramic tiles are popular with school craft and art projects.

Please note, earthenware (ceramic) tiles DO NOT meet the industry standards for flooring or other high stress, impact and/or wear applications.

Unglazed ceramic tiles are temperature stable to Cone 04 and may be glaze fired in tile racks without additional support.  The exact maximum temperature is not known and would obviously be dependent upon firing temperature, duration and physical support.
